Linear
Link a LaunchCal launch to its Linear project and the launch follows it: status, progress and status updates, synced daily and whenever you ask.
What Linear does in Taktoria
In LaunchCal, a launch can follow the Linear project that builds it. Its status moves when the project's does, it shows the project's progress, and the project's status updates appear on the launch, so its owners and reviewers see how the work is going without asking.
Taktoria only reads from Linear: it never creates, changes or comments on anything there. Linear is connected as an app rather than as a person, so it keeps working whoever connected it.
Connecting Linear
Only a workspace owner or admin can connect Linear.
- Open Settings → Integrations.
- Under Ticketing systems, select Connect Linear.
- In Linear, choose the Linear workspace to connect, and approve it.
The card then says which Linear workspace it is connected to. Each Taktoria workspace connects one.
Linking a launch to a project
Anybody who can edit a launch can link it, sync it or unlink it.
- Open the launch's Details tab.
- Under Ticketing project, paste the address of the project's page in Linear into Project link.
- Select Link project.
The project has to be in the connected Linear workspace, and it syncs straight away. A link pasted before Linear is connected is kept as a plain link, and starts syncing once it is.
An AI assistant connected to LaunchCal, and the REST API, can link, sync and unlink a launch too, under the same rules.
What syncs, and when
A linked launch is synced once a day until it launches, and whenever somebody selects Sync now.
- Status: when the project's status changes, the launch's follows: backlog or planned is Scoping, started is In development (a launch already in Design or Testing stays there), and paused or canceled is On hold. A status you choose in LaunchCal stands until the project's changes again.
- Progress: the project's own.
- Status updates: each becomes one of the launch's updates on its Activity tab, marked From Linear with a link to it, and the launch's health follows the newest. Edit one in Linear and the next sync brings the change; the launch keeps their history.
- Completed: when the project is completed, the launch says it is ready and its owners are told.
What a sync changes is shown as Linear's, in the launch's history, in what its owners are sent and in the audit log.
What it never does
- It never launches anything. A completed project makes the launch ready; somebody still selects Press to launch! once its required reviews are decided.
- It never changes a launch that has launched.
- It never writes to Linear.
- It never undoes a status you chose in LaunchCal, unless the project's status changes again.
Unlinking and disconnecting
Unlink, on the launch's Details tab, stops that launch syncing; what was brought in stays.
Disconnect, in Settings → Integrations, stops every launch syncing from Linear and withdraws Taktoria's access there. Launches keep what they link and everything synced so far, and pick up again once Linear is connected again.
Troubleshooting
- The project could not be found: it was deleted, or moved to a Linear workspace other than the connected one. Link its current address.
- Linear turned the connection down: a workspace owner or admin connects Linear again in Settings → Integrations.
- Linear did not answer the last sync: the next sync tries again, or select Sync now later.
- The project is kept as a plain link: Linear is not connected yet, or the address is not a project's. Paste the address of the project's own page.
- The launch's status did not move: a sync moves it only when the project's status changes, and never once the launch has launched.
