Zoom

Run a Dory event's Q&A inside a Zoom meeting: add Dory's Zoom app, give the event the meeting's join link, and the room asks and votes in the side panel.

What Dory does in a meeting

A Dory event can run inside the call it goes with. Attendees join, ask and upvote in the meeting's side panel, and hosts run the Q&A there, without leaving the call. Your workspace adds Dory's app for each platform it meets on, and each event names its call by its join link.

Running the Q&A in the meeting, signing in as a host and what attendees see: see In Zoom, Google Meet and Teams.

Adding Dory to Zoom

Dory's Zoom app runs in a Zoom meeting's side panel: attendees ask and upvote, and hosts run the Q&A. To add it, open an event whose Meeting link is a Zoom meeting and select Add Dory to Zoom beside it, which opens the app in Zoom's App Marketplace. If your Zoom account lets people add only the apps its admin approves, ask them to approve it.

Zoom tells only hosts and co-hosts which meeting it is, so attendees may need to type the event's code. Hosts invite everyone with Invite everyone to Dory.

Giving an event its meeting

  1. In the event's settings, paste the call's join link into Meeting link: a Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams link. Hosts and attendees see a link to join the call, and Dory's app finds the event by it.
  2. In the meeting, open Dory from the meeting's apps. It opens the event whose meeting link is that call; when it finds none, people type the Event code.

Copying an event keeps its meeting link, so a meeting that recurs keeps its Q&A next to it.

What it never does

  • It never takes a Zoom start link, which can carry the host's own sign-in: only join links.
  • It never lets anybody past the event's rules: a passcode, members only or certain email domains apply in the meeting too.
  • It never reads the call's chat, audio or video.

Troubleshooting

  • No Q&A for this meeting yet: the event's Meeting link is not this call's. Give the event this meeting's join link, or type the event's code.
  • There is no Add Dory button: the event's meeting link is on a platform your workspace has no Dory app for.
  • Zoom attendees are not taken to the event: Zoom tells only hosts and co-hosts which meeting it is. Attendees type the event's code.
